Team

Mertcan, a graduate of Middle East Technical University with a degree in Mining Engineering, has built his career in the fields of sustainability, carbon markets, and climate policy. He has been involved in technical and business development activities in areas such as voluntary carbon markets, carbon footprint calculation, CBAM compliance, LCA, and EPD. His expertise lies in both the technical and commercial aspects of carbon crediting processes, contributing to the development of carbon reduction roadmaps integrated into companies' ESG strategies. He currently serves as the Carbon Market Manager at Climate Balanced.

Dena Maraka, a dual citizen of the United States and Jordan, graduated in 2020 from the German Jordanian University with a degree in Water and Environmental Engineering. Between 2022 and 2024, she worked as an ESG Consultant at SLR Consulting Ltd. and previously served as an ESG Analyst at Sustainability Excellence from 2020 to 2021. She has experience in ESG score optimization, sustainability strategies, and green bonds.

Beril, holds a PhD in Energy Technologies and is a sustainability and carbon markets expert with a strong focus on climate policy. Her expertise spans corporate sustainability strategy, carbon market mechanisms, and international reporting frameworks, where she leads high-impact advisory and implementation initiatives.

Throughout her career, she has directed ESG and climate transformation projects across multiple industries, enabling organizations to align with evolving global standards and regulatory landscapes. She has also contributed to methodology development under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), supporting the advancement of international carbon market mechanisms.

As Operations Manager at Climate Balanced, she drives the strategic planning and execution of sustainability and carbon market projects, ensuring operational excellence and measurable climate impact.

Ehab Al Zamer is an ESG and Carbon Specialist at Climate Balanced with over nine years of expertise in sustainability, QHSE, and ISO systems. He specializes in delivering integrated solutions for solid waste management, alternative energy, and circular economy platforms. With dual Master’s degrees in Engineering Sustainability and Industrial Engineering, Ehab possesses a deep technical background in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), pyrolysis, and biomass utilization.

At Climate Balanced, Ehab supports strategic sustainability initiatives from scoping to delivery. He excels in materiality assessments, ESG benchmarking, and ratings optimization, ensuring client alignment with premier global frameworks including GRI, IFRS S1 & S2, CDP, EcoVadis, and S&P Global CSA. His approach combines rigorous project management with stakeholder capacity building to drive measurable environmental impact.

Halenur graduated in January 2025 from Middle East Technical University with a B.Sc. degree in Environmental Engineering, where she focused on sustainable resource management, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and water quality modeling. She has been working as a Carbon Project Specialist for over a year, contributing to carbon markets, sustainability assessments, and environmental compliance. Her work involves supporting carbon crediting projects under international standards and contributing to climate change mitigation efforts.

Mohammad a background in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s in Sustainability Science. Bringing two years of experience in a Big 4 environment, along with prior FMCG sustainability experience focused on circular fashion, he specializes in comprehensive ESG reporting and the strategic implementation of sustainable supply chains and circular economy principles.

Currently focused on driving robust sustainability reporting, he leverages strong attention to detail and data analysis to inform strategic business recommendations. A highly effective communicator, he also brings proven strengths in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and workshop facilitation.

Halil Arda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Middle East Technical University and a Master’s degree in Environmental Change and Global Sustainability from Università degli Studi di Milano, where he focused on monitoring pasture biomass and nutrient content using satellite imagery for his thesis. During his graduate studies, he also gained a working knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) through project-based coursework. Before joining the team, he gained experience as a Project Engineer, conducting GIS-based sensitivity analyses and contributing to sludge management plans. He currently serves as a ESG & Carbon Specialist at Climate Balanced.

Selen earned her B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 2022. She completed her M.Sc. at the University of Stuttgart in WASTE program, which is Air Quality Control, Solid Waste & Wastewater Process Engineering.

During her graduate studies, she focused on air quality management and solid waste processes, contributing to lab and field-based research on solid waste management, and wastewater treatment. She also worked as a research assistant and supported projects including BW2Pro and InBiRa, which focused on turning organic waste into biodegradable products and other useful bio-based materials. Her master’s thesis focused on micro-scale evaluation of urban SDG indicators, using R and QGIS for spatial and statistical analysis and visualization.

Before joining Climate Balanced, she worked in Germany as an Environmental Process Engineer, supporting emissions calculation, verification, and reporting under carbon tax, ETS, and CBAM framework, including CBAM aligned emissions calculations, supplier data management, and reporting infrastructure for iron & steel, aluminum, and industrial companies. She currently serves as an ESG & Carbon Specialist at Climate Balanced.

Energy Engineering student at Al-Hussein Technical University graduating soon, Abdallah integrates his technical studies with a professional focus on ESG and carbon management. Over the past year, he has gained practical experience in sustainability reporting (GRI and IFRS), GHG accounting, and peer benchmarking. By leveraging his engineering background and familiarity with evaluation platforms like EcoVadis, he supports carbon-related projects and corporate climate objectives.
